Back in 1906 'Pedal Power' was the main mode of transport.
Dan Kerridge established Kerridges (Needham Market) Ltd as a shop to meet this buoyant demand. We soon progressed from two to four wheels and by 1911 Kerridges had acquired the Ford dealership for the region.
Business grew - not surprisingly - and in 1920 we relocated to new premises offering a garage and filling station: it was the beginning of what everyone now recognises as our landmark site.
Dan's entrepreneurial skills soon saw himself and his two sons - Jack and Leslie - expand the business to become agents for Chevrolet and Bedford cars and vans, as well as launch a local bus service. Dan commissioned the construction of a new workshop in 1928, but he passed away before seeing its completion.
After the end of World War Two, Leslie returned to Needham Market, having served his country in the RAF. He resumed running the business with his hard-working brother, Jack.
In 1956, under the stewardship of Leslie's son, John, Kerridges acquired the Austin franchise and sales of the desirable Austin Healey Sportscar - along with the popular Mini. Both helped fuel our continued expansion. This success permeated through into the 1970's with the acquisition of the Morris, MG, Rover and Triumph marques.
Dan Kerridge established Kerridges (Needham Market) Ltd as a shop to meet the buoyant demand in cycles which eventually grew into our first garage enterprise.

Our forecourt contained a majestic array of reputable British built saloons and sportscars. In 1986, Stephen, the great-grandson of our founder; Dan Kerridge, acquired the TVR sports car franchise to expand our distinguished range and reputation, even further. Nine years later Stephen added the highly successful MGF sports car franchise to Kerridges' automotive portfolio.
Stephen's foresight would not be tempered by his business success and in 2003 the Noble Performance Car Franchise expanded our choice for motorists into the 'phenomenal performance car' arena. It's a car that defies its British predecessors' handling and performance capabilities and 'phenomenal' is no exaggeration!
Motor-racing has also featured within Kerridges' business activities in recent years by our support of drivers Troy Dunlop and David Mason in the TVR Tuscan Challenge. Indeed, Stephen himself added a few trophies to the cabinet by racing MGF VVC and Cup cars. Kerridges' involvement in motor racing still continues with their Noble Technician, Jamie Perry, winning Z class in the MG Owners' Club Race Series.
In 2007, the MG brand and assets were bought by SAIC, who have now appointed Kerridges as MG Main Dealers for Suffolk.
